Climate change is altering the conditions our homes, buildings and infrastructure need to withstand. Increasing temperatures, heavier rainfall, drought, flooding and extreme weather can affect not only individual properties, but also the energy, water, drainage, transport and communications systems on which they depend.

One World Design Architects provides climate resilience assessments for existing homes, proposed developments and sites, helping clients understand these changing risks and identify practical opportunities for adaptation.

Our approach combines architectural and environmental design experience with OWD Director Chris Medland’s doctoral research into place-based climate resilience and infrastructure interdependency. Chris is also a Sustainability Fellow, and this research increasingly informs our approach to both new and existing buildings.

Unlike a conventional property risk check, our assessments consider the building, its site and the wider infrastructure that supports it — examining how individual risks can interact and where vulnerabilities may develop as the climate changes.

Assessments range from an initial property overview to detailed site-wide and infrastructure resilience studies.
